About Us.
The Southwest Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics promotes mathematics and mathematics education to the teachers in Southwest Virginia from kindergarten to college through an annual conference. Our conferences present opportunities for teachers in the region to learn new developments in mathematics and mathematics education, the opportunity to learn new methods and skills to better teach their students, and the opportunity to see how mathematics education interconnects.
The organization strives in all learning activities to stimulate a greater interest in mathematics; to improve the teaching of mathematics at all levels; to keep teachers abreast of recent developments in the teaching of mathematics; and to promote the articulation of mathematics programs and encourage correlation of mathematics instruction at all levels.
